Akon has been keeping maintaining a profile in the music business just now, only yesterday. But that's because he's as much as focused on getting his solar energy labor, Akon Lighting Africa, off the ground. Right bringing power to 14 countries, these "One in the Chamber" singer is actually starting a training academy to teach citizens how to use and maintain solar power within their people.
Speaking at the United Nations' after that Sustainable Energy for All Forum, Akon revealed that he will help create a project training school in Bamako, Mali. In partnership with Solektra, the goal is always teach young Africans to use but also manage solar power as well as give them the data and training to take on these skills — bringing more jobs to the non-urban communities.
"I kind of seen what felt like to live in poverty and realize what it is to be in a position without light but also go days without eating, " said Akon, who is from Senegal. "I felt it. I approved it. And it made me cherish personal life even more. It put me allowed to be a lot more humble as a celebs. "
Kudos to the singer needed for thinking globally and expanding or perhaps reach to help othres. On the 70's music front, Akon is working on these follow-up to his 2008 release, Freedom. He's reportedly been making crafts songs for the new LP, Arena, since 2010, which is set to put out at some point this year.
