QUALCOMM IS WEDGING the product's foot more firmly in the Internet ture of Things (IoT) door by promoting a range of moves to secure its position hunting.
The first announcement sees the stiff expanding its Internet of Everything (IoE) platform with the addition of six new environment providers: Ayla Networks, Exosite, Kii, Proximetry, Temboo and Xively with LogMeIn.
"This will further shorten the development of devices that use WiFi to link to the IoE by increasing the cloud service flexibility and making here solutions available in a broader globally reach, " Qualcomm said.
Qualcomm has also introduced two connectivity technologies, the QCA401x and QCA4531, which inturn bring WiFi capabilities to connect wares across development platforms and "give customers an expedited and budget-friendly path to deployment".
The QCA401x is built to ease manufacturer demand for increased computer and memory while lowering sized, cost and power consumption, Qualcomm said.
It features a fully combined micro controller unit with as much as 800KB of on-chip memory coupled with an expanded set of interfaces so that you can directly interconnect with sensors, tv screen and actuators, further reducing scheme cost, size and complexity.
You see, the QCA401x also includes a suite of message protocols including Wi-Fi, IPv6, coupled with HTTP, as well as an advanced security include designed to maximise security in IoT devices.
The QCA4531 is a inexpensive turnkey solution that brings amximum performance connectivity with a user-programmable Linux/OpenWRT our environment.
It is designed to serve as an IoT node taking advantage of the Linux wording and as a hub to enable a particular IoT Ecosystem.
"As the [IoT] ecosystem expands, each QCA4531 is ideal for multi-protocol bridging coupled with communication, bringing together multiple wireless medium-high and bridging between different environments, " said Qualcomm.
The QCA4531 can function as an Access Point taking advantage of up to 16 simultaneous devices, which is power-optimised to enable appliances to meet essential standards for energy efficiency.

This means that just local or cloud-based music following a consumer's smartphone can be streamed to some Bluetooth-compatible AllPlay speaker and then re-streamed over WiFi to multiple AllPlay speakers, all in sync.
